Another Burton Fix!

So being the unhealthy Tim Burton fan that I am (as in going broke to buy anything Burton), I have just located some pics of the upcoming Burton film “Dark Shadows” and wanted to share them. It’s my understanding these are the VERY FIRST pics published of Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins, as Tim’s sets are notoriously private and crawling with security. This paparazzo was incredibly lucky to get these pics! And so far, I am incredibly intrigued by what I see. Of course I remember a part in Dark Shadows history where Barnabus Collins goes through a series of experiments to help turn himself human again, with the help of Dr. Julia Hoffman (played by Tim’s wife Helena Bonham Carter), and subsequently goes on a walk on the beach with current Collinwood governess and love interest Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote). This must be a scene from this particular part of the story. I’m already so incredibly excited to see this I can’t friggin wait! And as a fan of the Dark Shadows legacy, I know only Tim could bring it justice. Just as such, we were told at this past July’s Comic Con by original Dark Shadows cast member Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie) that she, along with a few other original cast members such as Jonathan Frid-the ORIGINAL Barnabus Collins were flown to England where Tim is filming DS and had a wonderful experience filming their “parts”. Wonderful to know the original cast members have been given a chance to appear in the new film. And better yet, Kathryn says that she along with the other original cast members are “very impressed” with Tim and his vision along with Depps acting, and that it’s gonna be a “damn good movie”. This coming from DS alumni is important to hear, I mean afterall these are the people that keep DS alive, and that have kept it’s legacy going strong for all these years!

Dark Shadows currently filimg in England and due to wrap very soon, should be released around May 2012 as Tim told all of us recently during my visit in May 2011 to his LACMA exhibition. If you haven’t read my review on that, then what the hell are you waiting for? Other current Dark Shadows cast members include the incredible (and my favorite) Michelle Pfeiffer, and Angelina Jolie ex husband Jonny Lee Miller, and Jackie Earle Haley whom you might remember as the new Freddie Krueger? So creepy…So perfect. The screenplay was written by Seth Grahame Smith who also wrote one of my fav books, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, which is also currently in post production and Tim Burton Produced. I have also discovered that Seth has been hired by Warner Brothers to write the sequel to Burton’s Beetlejuice. We’ll talk about this later, as I’m not sure how I feel about Beetlejuice 2 at this point.
