Resses Meet Jelly - PB&J's Candy Review

Well it looks like someone finally listened to my deepest candy desires, mixing the awesome concept of Resses Peanut Butter Cups with the next step in a PB&J sandwich, that’s right Nutella! No wait I mean JELLY! Yeah that’s right someone finally put the concept together, and to be honest it’s not bad, not as great as it could be but then again I have nothing to really compare it to other than making some myself and I would be overly generous with the jelly.

The candy comes in a pack of four small bars about the size of a Kit Kat individual bar, and it comes in two different flavors so far, strawberry and grape jelly. They both taste great and you can taste the mix of the milk chocolate, peanut butter, and the jelly of choice, the only real down side is that it’s either not enough of the jelly or the jelly they use is not a strong enough flavor to stand out in the individual bites.

I found these at a 7-Eleven for a dollar, and for a dollar snack it stood out as a deal for me, so I will most likely be picking these up when I get the need for a small sweet, and for those of us who are diabetic this is actually a manageable snack, as long as moderation is kept in mind like many other things in a persons diet. I recommend the grape over the strawberry only because of the stronger flavor but if you find them try them both and decide for yourself.

Gaming Nom's - Gamer Grub PB&J Flavor Review

During E3 2010 while I scowered the halls a group of excited and dedicated people kept handing out shots of snacks, the biggest selling point was “no more orange finger prints on your controllers” meaning every time we play a game we snack on cheetos and such and it will leave orange finger prints all over the controller and well ruin the entire thing as it is.

Well aside from the great selling point something else that caught my attention is that it was designed to give your brain an energy boost, so what Gamer Grub sets out to sell itself as is a great tasting, energy boosting, no mess snack for gamers.

As a gamer and a writer this is what I crave a snack that does not require me to clean my fingers every time I reach out for a quick bite, but also I need something that will not bring me down energy wise because it is over loaded with sugar or salt, and of course it has to be something that just taste amazing.

So when I tried out the snack I was given 4 flavor options, Pizza, Smoores, BBQ, and PB&J, naturally my choice was a childhood favorite flavor, PB&J is an amazing tasting snack, with a mix of peanuts, peanut butter chips, fruit jelly’s, and cookie chips. The best way that I feel you eat is to open the bag and tip it back like taking a swig out of a bottle so that you get the most random mix of flavor from all the elements in the bag.

Overall Gamer Grub is THE GAMING SNACK for me, and anytime I go to purchase electronics and such and I see the bags at check out I will buy one, heck today I picked up a new video game for a review and I picked up PB&J and Smoores, I am trying to get my wife to trade her last bag of PB&J for my bag of Smoores since it’s my favorite and that’s hers. We love Gamer Grub and I highly recommend it, if you see it, try it, you will not regret the purchase.

Darker Mints - Dark Chocolate Mint M&M's Review

M&Ms are practically the word in bite-size chocolate snacks, for everything from the movies to safe overseas OMG I need sugar now foods. And M&Ms go absolutely nuts with the flavors – peanut butter, almond, coconut, cherry, strawberry & PB, white chocolate, pretzel, vanilla, orange, and I’m sure others I’ve never heard of. These particular M&Ms,
Dark Chocolate Mint, are my current favorite.

The dots seem larger than usual, and even with the candy shell the first flavor to hit your mouth is pure decadent dark chocolate. Right on the heels of that is a cool blast of spearmint that doesn’t overpower the chocolate, but rather sings together in a symphony of flavor that makes me want to eat them by the handful! For a nifty added treat, I toss the bag of M&Ms in the fridge before eating. (Make sure you do fridge and not freezer, those candy shells can cut you if they’re frozen.)

As a bonus, how to make a Mint Chocolate M&Ms Milkshake

Drops of Chocolate Heaven - Hershey's Drops Review

These new candies have hit the market lately and after staring at them every time I’m in a store that carries them I finally broke down and bought some. Mostly because I was craving chocolate and cause they were on sale and I had a coupon.

The normal Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Drops, when I picked up the bag I thought “there isn’t a lot of chocolate for the amount of money I’m spending.” I don’t know why I don’t feel this way with M&M’s. Let me tell you I shared the bag and my chocolate craving was satisfied. So though it seems like not enough it was surely enough.

I took my bag and dumped in a small bag of cashews, I like to mix stuff together for more flavors. One drop is good for like 3 cashews. So I was in heaven. I truly enjoyed the chocolate cause they are small enough for one bite or you can take small nibbles if you aren’t in the mood for much.

They also came out in a cookie’s and cream flavor that looks scrumptious and is sitting with the rest of the packs I bought but I haven’t figured out what I’m going to pair it with yet.

They are like M&M’s without the shells. I really enjoyed them and will be buying more before the sale goes off.

Dynamite Chew - Black Black Gum Review

I am one of the five people in America who doesn’t drink coffee, so unfortunately I have to find other means to get my caffeine injection in the morning.  On a trip to my local Japanese market a friend introduced me to Black Black, a caffeinated gum with a kick.  I’m sort of a sucker for interesting gimmicks, so a sleek black and sliver package promoting “Hi-technical excellent taste and flavor” (as well as crazy commercials featuring Jean Claude Van Damme) meant I had to try it.

There was nothing overly exciting about a standard stick of gum that resembled a piece of Juicy Fruit that had been dyed black, but chewing it was a different story.  It felt as though I had just chewed an entire tin of Altoids.  The mint was so strong I could swear that I could hear the germs in my mouth screaming for mercy.  Do NOT underestimate the strength of a piece of gum. This is the perfect product for first thing in the morning.  Not only will it eliminate that less-then-sexy morning breath, but the nice little bit of caffeine and the super cool mint really opens your eyes.  Plus the flavor doesn’t clash with toothpaste.  It’s not as powerful as an energy drink so I don’t end up all jittery and weird either. Admittedly there isn’t much caffeine in it (only 5mgs), but the gum format makes it absorbed 3 times faster then drinking coffee and it contains oolong tea extract and gingko.  I also recommend chewing when your sinuses are stuffed up. Yay for a fantastic new staple in my purse!  This is one product I make a point to keep around.
