Resses Meet Jelly - PB&J's Candy Review

Well it looks like someone finally listened to my deepest candy desires, mixing the awesome concept of Resses Peanut Butter Cups with the next step in a PB&J sandwich, that’s right Nutella! No wait I mean JELLY! Yeah that’s right someone finally put the concept together, and to be honest it’s not bad, not as great as it could be but then again I have nothing to really compare it to other than making some myself and I would be overly generous with the jelly.

The candy comes in a pack of four small bars about the size of a Kit Kat individual bar, and it comes in two different flavors so far, strawberry and grape jelly. They both taste great and you can taste the mix of the milk chocolate, peanut butter, and the jelly of choice, the only real down side is that it’s either not enough of the jelly or the jelly they use is not a strong enough flavor to stand out in the individual bites.

I found these at a 7-Eleven for a dollar, and for a dollar snack it stood out as a deal for me, so I will most likely be picking these up when I get the need for a small sweet, and for those of us who are diabetic this is actually a manageable snack, as long as moderation is kept in mind like many other things in a persons diet. I recommend the grape over the strawberry only because of the stronger flavor but if you find them try them both and decide for yourself.

Minty Refreshment - Metromint Drink Review

This is my favorite drink right now. Not only does it taste amazing it is super healthy for you. There are so many flavors to choose from and not only do they cool you down on a hot summer day, it’s only water. The ingredients are simple and pure. Each flavor of the water is just a few things, Purified water, mint and an essence of either fruit, chocolate or pepper/spearmint.

Each bottle is labelled for its chill factor, the cherry flavor for example is a chill factor of -5. The drink is refreshing and minty and yet not overbearing. The best part about it is the fact that you can use just a little to flavor another drink. Make your coke a cherry mint, or your sprite a chocolate mint sprite. There are so many different combinations you can make and you only have to pour the tiniest amount in. I mean that too, too much and the flavor will overtake anything else. I like taking just a bit and pouring into a water bottle for when I go out jogging so that I get the hint of mint in my water and I can make one bottle last a really long time.

You can find these waters all over the place, a lot of health food stores carry them, and more and more places are picking them up. The next time you are out and see a bottle do me a favor and try one, you won’t regret it and the more they sell, the more accessible they will be and the quicker they can dominate the world.

Apples and Berrys Jones sodas go at it!!

Just popped open two cans of Jones soda, Green apple and Berry lemonade. First up the green apple, I was pleasantly surprised. First off the black and white picture with a green border was pretty to look at. and as I read I noticed the information to send in my own pictures to be put on the can.  The fizzy drink was a perfect thirst quencher. The crisp green apple tasted just like a jolly rancher, sweet with a small kick. Unlike most sodas this has a light carbonation that doesn’t leave you bloated and burpy. Even sipped slowly over an hour the last drink was just as crisp and flavorful as the first. About half way through the can I began to worry about the sugar and caffeine but with only 46g of sugar in th 16oz can there wasn’t much to worry about. not to mention it’s caffeine free. This naturally flavored drink is joining the list of my favorites.

Next up Berry lemonade. This can also sports a black and white picture this time surrounded by an aqua border. I pop this can open and again I am greeted by the light carbonation and a mouth full of flavor. This time it reminds me more of a berry cream until I swallow and I am left with a lime like after taste. There is a sugary sweetness there but mostly it just strikes me as tart and sour. 54g of sugar in this can and it still tastes tart? This soda was a disappointment to me because it tasted nothing like berry or lemonade really. Jones, you let me down on that one. Lets try again with a different flavor some time.

Jonesing for Some Soda - Strawberry Lime Soda Review

Breaking away from the norm is what reviewing snacks and drinks is all about, and when it comes to soda it seems that Jones Soda takes this idea and they run with it.

This time around I tried the Strawberry Lime soda in the 16 fl oz can, right off the bat the sweet fruity smell of the drink will catch your attention. It reminds me a lot of the Fruit Punch flavored drinks when it comes to the scent that comes off the can, as far as the flavor is concerned it taste just as described strawberries with a hint of lime, and it is delicious.

The drink really stood out for me this time around, I enjoy my basic flavors when it comes to soft drinks especially colas and such, but most of all I enjoy tropical fruit flavors when I can find them, and now as far as I am concerned I will be looking out for this flavor in particular.

There is just something about the hint of lime that makes it stand out so well as far as Strawberry flavored drinks are concerned, and not only that but it does not have an overpowering sweet taste, it is oerfectly balanced and with a refreshing taste i can say this one for the recommendation list.

Gaming Nom's - Gamer Grub PB&J Flavor Review

During E3 2010 while I scowered the halls a group of excited and dedicated people kept handing out shots of snacks, the biggest selling point was “no more orange finger prints on your controllers” meaning every time we play a game we snack on cheetos and such and it will leave orange finger prints all over the controller and well ruin the entire thing as it is.

Well aside from the great selling point something else that caught my attention is that it was designed to give your brain an energy boost, so what Gamer Grub sets out to sell itself as is a great tasting, energy boosting, no mess snack for gamers.

As a gamer and a writer this is what I crave a snack that does not require me to clean my fingers every time I reach out for a quick bite, but also I need something that will not bring me down energy wise because it is over loaded with sugar or salt, and of course it has to be something that just taste amazing.

So when I tried out the snack I was given 4 flavor options, Pizza, Smoores, BBQ, and PB&J, naturally my choice was a childhood favorite flavor, PB&J is an amazing tasting snack, with a mix of peanuts, peanut butter chips, fruit jelly’s, and cookie chips. The best way that I feel you eat is to open the bag and tip it back like taking a swig out of a bottle so that you get the most random mix of flavor from all the elements in the bag.

Overall Gamer Grub is THE GAMING SNACK for me, and anytime I go to purchase electronics and such and I see the bags at check out I will buy one, heck today I picked up a new video game for a review and I picked up PB&J and Smoores, I am trying to get my wife to trade her last bag of PB&J for my bag of Smoores since it’s my favorite and that’s hers. We love Gamer Grub and I highly recommend it, if you see it, try it, you will not regret the purchase.
