Expectations of Expecting - What to Expect When Your Expecting Movie Review

First thing I have to say is this is not a date night movie. The film is the kind of movie you watch if you are a mommy or someone with baby fever. I enjoyed it, and got emotional through it because I have been in the place of one of the characters in the film. Not really in any way a guy movie. It’s definitely targeted at women who have been there and ones who want to be. I’m neither but I like to see everything out in theatres. I hadn’t heard the best things about the film but after seeing it, I actually liked it. I thought for what the film is about they did a good job. It made me cry, though that is not too hard.
This film is based off the book of the same title. It follows 5 couples going through having their first pregnancy or adoption. Each couple has some different obstacle they must endure during the pregnancy. From competing pregnancies, to misfortune, unsurity and loss each plays a role in the creation of 5 new lifes.
I really thought each couple played well off each other from Matthew Morrison and Cameron Diaz to Jennifer Lopez and . Each couple really got into the moment of being ready to be parents and the fears, anxiety, and excitement that comes with bringing a baby into this world.
I felt like they did a great job capturing the range of emotions. I liked the way the writers added in all the different things that can happen from joy to sorrow and had each person handle things differently. Life is different for everyone and I really thought they captured that.
I enjoyed the movie for what it was. It wasn’t really a comedy, it had funny moments. It was more like a drama, with a range of emotions. If you are a chick, mommy or interested in women going through the joys of expecting you might enjoy this film, otherwise in my opinion it is probably a skipper.
