Microsoft Does Not Like Money

Xbox Live we all know of it and we all have it in some way, shape, or form, and it cost $59.99 a year. Well it seems that Microsoft does not want my money or my roomates no matter how much we ask them to charge it…
Well let me explain the story and see if anyone else can make sense out of it, I have an Xbox 360 and I usually have a gold account but barely use it for anything else other than Netflix and very rarely do I use it for Online Play. So if my account expires I do not always go and renew it and I will usually renew it when some kind of deal pops up for 12 month cards or xbox live marketplace offers.
And so my account expired back in november and I let it go, Microsoft in all it’s infinite wisdom decided to try and renew my account without letting me know and of course the card I had on file was canceled due to issues similar to this one. They tried and tries via multiple emails to get me to change the card and try and bill me for something I was not using and at the time was not planning on paying for, and now with my new roomates in the house they wanted to have netflix back in the living room and offered to pay for it since they offer 20% off and a free game disc.
Of course I did not see anything wrong with that idea and I agreed to it and tried to pay for it, but it would not allow me to set up the payment to renew the 12 month membership. So here we are with a service that requires $59.99 to activate and they offer a pretty sweet deal for us to get it… but they are not allowing us to pay for it, so I did the next best thing and called Xbox Live support in hopes that they would make short work of my issue and get us back on Netflix and online gaming with an extra game that we would most likely but more DLC for since the game was free.
Calling Xbox Live Support is where the issues truly get confusing, I call and get help almost instantly, which is great but the outcome is not. So while on the phone I find out that they were holding my account on suspension until I payed off the past due on the account, and here is where it gets funny I asked if they would simply make to where I could pay my account and still get the same deal since I am not currently an Xbox Live Gold Memeber. The answer was a very polite NO, and I kept asking if it made any sense that I want to give them money to renew my membership and get the same deal or I can just create an account just to get the deal anyways and get my free game or simply help out a customer and get their money for the membership, the answer was another polite “I understand and I wish I could help you out but we cannot make that change”.
So what I understood is that if I would like to get the deal I had to pay for the previous renewel attempt and then we could work out the Xbox Marketplace offer, when I asked if I could speak to a supervisor not be because he was rude because he was not but maybe there was something he could do for me that he was unable too. And honestly it’s worth a try to get a supervisor involved sometimes because they can make something work out for both parties. But sadly the answer I got was “I could but honestly it’s going to take a while and they are most likely to give you the same answer and I would rather not waste your time with it”… polite of him to consider my time but I could have waited in order to get things taken care of. I hung up the phone and decided to share my experience with you all. I think that I may be the first person that Microsoft does not want to take money from.
If anyone else has experienced something like this share it with us and place it in the comments section, I for one will share this with Microsoft directly and some other fellow press and media and see what comes from it. At this point I do not care to get my Xbox Live Account renewed but the principal of it all is what matters.
